APTS New Trainer Program – 2026 Intake
The APTS New Trainer Program is a unique employment and development pathway for people with strong clinical or medical knowledge who want to build a career delivering high-quality first aid and safety training.
The program is particularly well suited to current university students (such as paramedic, nursing or health science students), as training is delivered largely outside standard university hours and provides meaningful, flexible employment alongside study. However, applications are open to people from all suitable professional backgrounds.
Participants complete the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) through a blended delivery model delivered by HBA Learning Centres, with all face-to-face workshops hosted at the Australian Pacific Training Solutions (APTS) Braeside Office. The program runs over six months, with two days per month (Friday and Saturday) of facilitated training, supported by structured coursework, practical delivery workshops, and mentoring in between sessions.
What makes this program different is that it is not just a qualification – it is a genuine employment pathway. Participants receive full onboarding and are supported to transition into the role of a professional trainer delivering nationally recognised first aid training for APTS. Course fees are covered upfront by APTS and are repaid progressively through agreed training shifts once qualified, meaning there is no upfront financial barrier and only minimal impact on take-home income over time.
Graduates of the program gain real-world training experience, professional mentoring, and ongoing casual employment opportunities. For many participants, this provides an ideal professional role while completing university studies, or while waiting for employment in ambulance services or other health careers.
The most recent APTS New Trainer Program achieved a 100% completion rate, with all graduates now delivering high-quality training as part of the APTS team.
We are now accepting applications for the 2026 intake, with approximately 10–15 places available (target cohort of 12 participants).
