Course delivery

This qualification will be delivered through a mix of online work and face to face assessment days run at an Australian Pacific Training Solitions facility. Onsite options are available for groups.

The units within the course will be delivered in clusters, with participants working through comprehensive online content prior to a work shop day.

To successfully complete the qualifications Participants will be required to complete all online learning content, including assessment tasks as well as attend the 4 practical assessment days scheduled over the course of the 12 month duration.

Course Duration (face to face)

Expected minimum duration (months): 6

Expected maximum duration (months): 12

As the participant cohort for this program are existing workers who have extensive experience in the industry sector, 350 hours, delivered over a six-month period, has been determined an appropriate time to deliver this Qualification to this existing participant cohort. However, should a new or inexperienced student express an interest in undertaking the Certificate III in Basic Health Care, additional time, mentoring, and support may be necessary to ensure successful completion and competency.

Course Fees and Payments

Cost: $2000 per person total for all unit clusters in the qualification.

  • Refund and fee protection policy – Please refer to the student handbook. Students are able to withdraw at any point in the qualification and no futher fees will be incurred however the qualification will not be obtained. Individual certificates will be provided for units completed to that point in the qualification.
  • Payment Terms – Course payment will be required upon enrolment in each unit cluster. Each cluster will be charged at a rate of $500 per cluster.
Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. 

 Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this qualification with Australian Pacific Training Soluitions Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Satisfactorily complete a language, numeracy and literacy assessment prior to or on course commencement to assess capacity to meet the LLN requirements of this course.
  • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills
  • Protective slip resistant footwear/safety shoes must be provided by the student and worn during the practical sessions and assessment

Online study options: The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and practical assessment. Some assessment elements will involve the recording and uploading of videos demonstrating the performance of key skills.

Practical assessment:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Manage a casualty with asthma
  • Manage a choking casualty
  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid

Practical assessment:
