Course Description
The SITXFSA006 – Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to apply safe food handling practices in hospitality and related industries. It covers the entire food safety process and the necessary steps to prevent contamination and ensure food is handled safely at all times.
Learners will gain practical knowledge in controlling food hazards at critical control points, including the receipt, storage, preparation, processing, display, serving, packaging, transport, and disposal of food. To demonstrate competency, participants must complete a third-party observation in a real or simulated food handling environment such as a commercial kitchen, catering production line, or food preparation area with industry-standard facilities.
Important: Students must be employed in, or secure a volunteer placement within, a suitable workplace that provides access to a third-party observer. The observer is responsible for verifying and documenting the student’s competency using the supplied third-party report form.
