Course Description
The SITXFSA005 – Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety course is tailored for individuals working in the hospitality, transport, and distribution sectors. It provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge to apply correct personal hygiene and basic food safety practices, ensuring food is handled safely to prevent contamination and reduce the risk of food-borne illness.
To demonstrate competency, participants must complete a third-party observation, carried out in a suitable food handling environment such as a commercial kitchen, catering production line, or other workplace with industry-standard food preparation and storage facilities. This observation may be conducted at the participant’s place of work or through volunteer opportunities in community centres, sports clubs, or local councils.
Important: Students must be employed in, or have access to, a suitable food handling environment with a third-party observer. The observer will be responsible for verifying and documenting the student’s demonstrations using the provided third-party report form.
