Course Description
The HLTSS00061 Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set (Levels 1 & 2 combined) is designed for individuals responsible for managing and supervising the day-to-day implementation of a food safety program, particularly within the Community and Health Service sector. It equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to maintain safe food handling practices and oversee compliance with food safety legislation.
Participants will learn how to control food hazards at critical control points, including receipt, storage, preparation, processing, display, serving, packaging, transport, and disposal of food. The course explains the roles and responsibilities of a Food Safety Supervisor and the practical measures necessary to ensure safe, consistent food handling.
Students are required to demonstrate their practical skills and knowledge through a third-party observation form, completed in a real or simulated food handling environment such as a commercial kitchen, catering production line, or community food service. This may take place at the participant’s workplace or through volunteering with local organisations such as sports clubs or community centres.
Please note: It is essential for students to be employed or to secure a suitable volunteer role where a third-party observer is available. The nominated observer will be responsible for witnessing and documenting the participant’s performance using the provided third-party report form.
