Course Description
The HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices course is designed for individuals who handle food in the health and community sectors, where vulnerable groups are at greater risk. It is ideal for workers who prepare, provide, and serve food to the elderly, infants, children, pregnant women, and people with medical conditions, immune deficiencies, or allergies.
Participants must demonstrate their practical food safety skills and knowledge through a third-party observation form, completed in a suitable food handling environment such as a commercial kitchen, catering production line, or food preparation area with industry-standard facilities. These observations can be undertaken in the participant’s workplace or through volunteer opportunities at community organisations, sports clubs, or local councils.
Important: Students must be employed or secure a volunteer placement in a suitable workplace where a third-party observer can verify their competency. The observer is responsible for documenting performance using the provided third-party report form.
