Course Description
The HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely unit provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely perform manual handling tasks in the workplace. This nationally recognised training is designed to reduce the risk of injury by helping workers understand how to identify manual task hazards, assess the risks, and apply safe work practices in line with workplace health and safety laws.
There are two tailored versions of this unit available. One is designed for general workers who regularly move items such as boxes, tools, and equipment. It focuses on safe lifting techniques, body mechanics, and the use of aids like trolleys and lifting devices. The other version is designed for personal care workers in settings such as aged care or disability support, with an emphasis on safely supporting and moving people using appropriate equipment and techniques.
This unit is ideal for anyone whose role involves physical tasks and is especially valuable in environments where injury prevention and safe manual handling are a priority. Completing this training helps create a safer workplace by ensuring workers understand how to protect themselves and others when performing manual tasks.
